Feed Back

On Wednesday i  did get good feed back.
Lorna- she said she can't help me at this point for fabrics, without any design idea to give or show her. Also sge thinks i should stick with looking at different addictions, but i think i would lose interest in that and i do prefer to look at the video games.
Jernayde- she thinks i should use the pixelated shapes as the main focus of my designs.
Aimee- she said because my project has a big focus on print, which will be inspired by games. To get the shape of the garments i should look at what the characters wear, E.G  in the streets of rage game 1 of the fighters have a sleevless waist coat, but do the pattern cutting as if its pixelated.

After i did have a one to one with Emily, and we started with my predicted grades and then went on to brainstorm what i'm looking at and where i'm going.
so on the brainstorm there is ideas such as:
- Johnny Hardstaff- History of gaming
- How youth society has changed since video games
-How it affects the brain
-Designer Jean Charles De Castelbajar
films to do with video games
-Lawnmower man
- Elephant
-Wall-E
-Avater
- Tron
- Gamer
Then we thought about the Wii and how its affective in society now. which has changed the way of sports.
Then we considered me doing a sports wear collection for the Wii. So its kind of looking at the affects of video games in the future and well we be do such things as making the Wii sports an actual national Olypic sports, ect..

To be honest i love the idea of making my collection a Wii sports garment. which does help me to start making sports wear clothing, since i will be doing contour in Uni.
i justcan't wait to make it, but i'ts jus making sure all my research is there 1st.

Well to get some primary research i was playing and pausing the game gear console to get some interesting geometric shapes to use as a print idea. And yes i did have fun playing it! lool

switch board idea....

Because i didn't want to destory my  game console, i found an old portable t.v in my dad's house and just  took it apart (he doesn't know!!)
after Tracey's lesson, we had a discussion of what sample manipulation ideas i can do with the switch board. I did start with the idea of doing embroidery with the wires.
Tracey and Vicky said they like both sides of the switch board and can see a lot of shape that i could work with.
I did a rubbing of the one side of the switch board, which straight away i knew i had to develop it even more. so i went onto doing a Lino print of the lines on the switch board. i loved the print, and the colours collide together.
I went back to Vicky and she suggested i can develop it even more by doing an emboridery over the print. Which may work. but because the lesson ended i'm going to try and ask tracey if i can come into one of her lessons and continue sampling.

i did actually realise that i had some old games and game consoles, which i knew would help my get some ideas.
Also me and a couple of friends went to down to the market where they sale old game consoles, gameboys and control pads. And for the whole time i had the ides of using control pads and knitting with it to make something like a skirt.

FMP Diary :-)

Okay.... well my FMP its based around 'Addictions', so i started of with brainstorming around the word 'addiction' ( also with the added help of my group peers).
I began to see words such as Plastic surgery, drugs, games, abuse and fast food ect....i also had artist to look at such as Orlan and David LaChapelle.
i started my research at the Central Libuary, looking at smoking adverts and looking at documentaries on extreme beauty.

After a couple of days researching, i felt myself lossing interestin the whole aspect of looking at addictions in a whole. So after a couple of dicussions with tutors and a helpful group crit, i decide to just look at 1 addiction. which i began to realise i can see myself going far with the idea of video games. Already i can see what ideas and manipulation i could do.
